The year was 1898 when Louis Renault celebrating his 21st birthday chose the occasion to present his new vehicle, the Renault Type A. In 1899 the Renault brothers started their production on Avenue du Cours in Billancourt. The 12th of June 1899 saw them take part in the Paris Motor Show with two models: Type A and Type B. By 1901 models D and E had appeared on the scene. By 1902 the first engine of the original Renault construction was born. Since 1899 Renault had been winning the Paris Motor Show. However, in 1903 tragedy struck. Renault brothers participated in the Paris-Madrid race on May 24th, 1903. Marcel Renault was killed in a crash. Louis Renault went into shock and called all his cars back off the competition. In 1942 the allies bombed Renault factories destroying about 80% of its resources. By 1944 the Renault brothers had all died but the name Renault lived on. R5, R9, R11, R25, R21, Clio, Safrane Biturbo, Renault Twingo, Renault laguna, Renault Megane, Renault Clio II are the prominent brands.
The Renault engine is the heart and soul of the car. Always ensure to check the oil level towards the front of the engine. The Renault fuel pump mounted to the engine uses the motion of the engine to pump the fuel. There are tiny openings on the fuel injectors which can easily clog. The only way to prevent this is by filtering the oil. One can use the Renault fuel filters for this purpose. The car spluttering at high speeds or the Renault engine not starting at all are indications of a clogged Renault fuel filter. Always check the relay in case if you cannot hear the Renault fuel pump running and the car not starting. If the relay is sending power to the pump, you will have to replace the Renault fuel pump.
The Renault engine has pistons which move up and down in the cylinders. The engine pistons have rings which serve to keep the oil out of the combustion chamber. The rings of the Renault engine pistons can tend to wear over a period of time which dilutes the oil. The oils dilution results in the oils inability to lubricate the Renault engine causing premature wear.
