The Dodge air conditioning is a system that cools and dehumidifies air entering the passenger compartment. The primary components are a compressor, condenser, evaporator, accumulator, and orifice tube or expansion valve.
The accumulator-dryer is a container which receives refrigerant liquid, vapor and oil from the evaporator. After that, it releases the vapor to the compressor. Apart from that, it also contains desiccant to absorb moisture. The desiccant is a drying agent used to remove moisture in the refrigeration system.
Without the Dodge air conditioning unit, and the cool air that refreshes in the summer time, driving to one’s destination would be very miserable. The primary components comprising the Dodge air conditioning unit are the compressor, condenser, expansion valve and evaporator. The refrigerant in the Dodge’s air conditioning system is compressed in the compressor and turns into a hot gas. The Dodge air conditioning compressor is considered to be the heart of the system as it is responsible for pumping and circulating the refrigerant throughout the system. The compressor generates a lot of heat because it compresses the refrigerant. And, the refrigerant has a pressure/temperature relationship. Lack of lubrication and cooling can play spoil sport and cause the compressor to fail. The compressor clutch is mounted on the front of the compressor. It comprises of a field coil, a pulley and a clutch hub. The clutch hub is connected directly to the main shaft of the compressor. At the time when the coil gets energized and creates a magnetic field, it pulls the hub towards the pulley which engages the clutch. Engaging the clutch starts the compressor pumping.
What happens in the condenser is that this hot gas is cooled to a liquid state and travels to the expansion valve. As the refrigerant goes through the expansion valve it returns to a low-pressure gas. Then it rapidly cools in the evaporator. A fan blowing over the evaporator cools the air that eventually blows out of the vents.
